Overview

A renewable fuel that can replace CNG, a non-renewable energy source, is bio-CNG, and it is obtained by purifying biogas. When microbes break down organic material like food, crop residue, wastewater, and so forth, biogas is generated.

Compressed bio-CNG, also known as compressed biomethane, is a methane-rich compressed fuel. At a pressure of 20–25 MPa, bio-CNG is produced from pure biogas containing more than 97% methane. In terms of fuel properties, economy, engine performance, and emissions, it is very similar to regular CNG.
