India is currently the world's second-largest tomato producer after China, contributing 11% to global tomato production. Tomatoes are rich in vitamin C and are widely grown in India throughout the country. Fresh tomatoes are very energizing and delicious, but with a short life cycle.

Approximately 25% of the produce spoils due to improper handling during harvest and post-harvesting operations, and it is frequently sold at low prices. There is space to construct significant processing facilities because tomatoes are almost always available.

The concentrated tomato paste, along with water, sugar, vinegar, salt, and seasonings, is used to prepare tomato ketchup. Burgers, sandwiches, pizza, fries, and other foods are frequently served with tomato ketchup.

The tomato ketchup industry is very profitable both on a large scale and a small scale.
